Season 4, Episode 1 - "The Beginning of the End"

***DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THIS EPISODE YET!!!!!***

We need some discussion on this episode! It was amazing and definitely lived up to the hype - I'm very excited about this season (even though it's going to be short...). Fee free to bring up whatever you want, but there are two things I found interesting that I think bear mentioning (and more discussion).

First, in Hurley's flash-forward, when he is in the police station - He sees a "vision" (or whatever) of Charlie in the water, swimming toward him. I didn't catch it while watching, but there's something written on his hand; you can see it very clearly here.

Interesting, no? =)

Second, and much more puzzling - when Hurley finds Jacob's cabin. We see a dude, who is assumed to be Jacob, sitting in the rocking chair, and then an eye flashes at the window (presumably Locke's). I found a screen capture, and the dude in the chair is NOT Jacob.

It's hard to tell who it is, really - speculation is a skinnier Christian Shephard. If Christian really has been on the island all this time, alone, it makes sense that he'd have lost a lot of weight (not to mention that whole being dead thing ... tends to make one lose weight, too).

Opinions on this? And other stuff?

Also, if you have not seen the last "Lost" mobisode (or web episode), it sheds some light on Christian Shephard's fate and lends credibility to the idea that he is indeed alive in some form or another. Here's a link to said mobisode.

And finally, the Oceanic Airlines commercial that aired after "Lost" during "Eli Stone" (which, by the way, was a pretty weird show). Pretty interesting stuff, I'd say.

Very interesting. And if it is Christian.... holy crap. I mean, holy crap. That does fit in with the missing scene, though...

Is possible that Christian is in fact Jacob? Perhaps what we saw originally was an incomplete version of Jacob (which explains the seeming hole in the head). Perhaps Locke could not completely take Jacob in yet.

Or here's a thought, maybe Jacob looks different to every person that perceives him. Perhaps the person we saw was from Hurley's perspective and will later be revealed to be a part of Hurley's life. That seems to fir with one of Hurley's themes: perception. Whatever he perceives to be true, is true. That's why Charlie disapeared when he counted to five, as well as Jacob's cabin. It's why the Dharma can started for him when it probably should not have. Hurley, like Walt (who could only throw Locke's knife after perceiving the action taking place) is special.

Oooo I like the theory of Jacob looking different to everyone who sees him. Locke saw a weird, ghost-looking thing because he wants to see the spiritual side of the island. It'd be interesting to know what Ben thinks Jacob looks like.

Let me just say that the commercial is weird as crap. Any ideas on what its supposed to me? Seems quite possible that they were involved in the cover-up, if there was one. But its hard to believe that they're more than coincidental conspirators.
